If you go to Hoover and you are a freshman or if you are going to be going to Hoover soon then there is a program you should take an interest into joining and that is the Aaron Price Fellows. The program was created in 1991 by the Price Family to honor the life and memory of Aaron Price after he passed away in 1989 at the age of 15. The program provides a wide range of activites and allows interaction with people most of us would never likely meet. Schools that participating are Lincoln High School, University City High School, Point Loma, and Hoover High School. The programs first year starts of with a summer camp where you will meet the other fellows in the program. This will be time to bond with your new family since you will be together in the same program until senior year. The second year there will be a visit to California State's Capitol in Sacramento where you will meet memebers of the Senate, how the government works, and possibly some fellows from previous years working at the capitol. The third and final year there will be a week long visit to Washington DC. The visit includes a lot of tours to important places such as the White House and learn what the federal government does. All these are the major trips taken while in the program, but there are also a lot trips to places in the San Diego area such as the juvinile hall detention area, a trip to Petco Park, and too many other places.
The progrma is the most fun you will ever have and meet people you will most likely have never met before. What is the best thing of all is that you will make life long friends. So if you are a soon to be freshman or a freshman look for the opportunity to join this program. It will be a choice you will not regret.
There has been a time in our life that we all procrastinate for one reason or another. Most of us do it for a school homework or for applications and leave everything till the last minute. Have you noticed that when you rush something it does not come out as good as it should? Same thing happens to our work we do not do as good as we should. The reason why many of procrastinate is because we think that we can do it later and as the days go back the deadline to do something comes closer. Some of us may get away with procrastinating, but not all of us are that lucky. In order to avoid procrastination is to:
Identify the things that you got to do and write them down. That way once you finish something you can cross it out.
Put the most important task first or the one you will get the most out of. You got to look for the one that benefits you the most for example a final project for your class.
Create deadlines for what you are doing. If there are no deadlines create deadlines for yourself. Having deadlines create urgency.
Break large projects into smaller ones and create a final product combining them together.
Clear everything and concentrate on one task only.
Try to develop a habit of doing things as soon as possible once its a habit it will become easier
It's very important that you enjoy what you are doing and try not to make a burden of it. Once you are done or have finished steps to what you are doing reward yourself.
It is important to reward yourself in order to keep motivated.
Nowadays there are a lot of people who have a cell phones and they are constantly texting with it. Even though there are a lot of people who have a cell phone there are not many that can afford to have one, but there is no need to feel left out. There are many ways to text to a person just with the help of a computer. There are certain websites that allow you to text, but their messages don't always go through. Some of the most reliable ones has been AIM and Gmail who both work together to send messages to your friends and if it was an AIM conversation. You don't get charged extra and if the person you are texting has unlimited texting they you guys can text all you want for FREE! There is nothing better then texting for free. There is another way to send messages to a phone and that is by email. By adding the phone number plus the service provider address can be a way to text as well, but it takes longer and it works best for picture messages. For example: Verizon: #######@vtext.com Sprint: #######@sprintpaging.com T-Mobile:#######@tmomail.com
What is seniorities? Many believe is a lack of motivation of college bound students and other believe it is just laziness. There are about 8 weeks left of schools for many seniors and most of them already want to leave and explore the world, but we can not let this take over us since grades still matter of getting accepted to a college. Since there are many budget cuts colleges are taking the best of the best. Some colleges will even reject your letter of acceptance if just one F appears on your next report card. Colleges want students that are motivated to learn and won't give up even when the end of the tunnel is near.
Avoid the lazyness and keep on trying in all your classes. Have you seen senior wearing sweats, coming in baggy clothes, and not bringing in their material? Those are signs of seniorities and they get worse. ALso, for the Juniors don't let seniorities get the best of you since your not even seniors. Lets keep on doing our best till the very end.
Ever since we are little we are checked to see how well our sight is. Some of us may be blessed with a 20/20 eyesight, but not all of us are that lucky. Some of us have astigmatisms, are near/farsighted, or just need reading glasses as we grow older. Most of these individuals have bought a pair of glasses and they are not cheap. As much as we try to keep them clean and in good conditions as possible it seems like an impossible task. Sometimes they slip of our hands, we forget where we put them down, and if there are younger children running around the house something is bound to be done to them. Thankfully there are some tips into how to keep the lens of the glasses and scratch free as possible and maybe give your glasses a longer life.
Here is how:
Run warm water on both sides of the lenses with a small amount of soap.
There is no need to use any fancy sponge or cloth to rub your lenses clean. Using your thumb and your index finger rub and clean the lenses.
Once you have cleaned your glasses it is time to dry them. This is a very important step when it comes to cleaning you lenses. Get a towel or a paper towel and squeeze the water out of the lens, do not rub for that will scratch the lens, keep on squeezing till the lens dries out.
There are also other ways to keep glasses and their lenses from scratching. When you are not using them put them in their carrying case so that they can be protected. Try to not put them anywhere where someone may sit or even worse step on them. Glasses are not forever since they are recommended to be changed every two year, but while you wait for your next doctor's visit try to keep them in the best shape as possible.
