The deadline for submitting UC and CSU applications was November 30th, however, there are still some things to be done. In the UC and CSU applications there was a box that asked if you would like to apply for EOP. It is recommended for first generation students to check the box for yes. Many UC and CSU ask for your e-mail address and will send out reminders of when the registration opens for EOP. For most schools, EOP application is due on February 15, 2010 but they ask information about when you are planning to apply for FASFA and additional information. EOP applications can be found on the UC's website or in CSU mentor.
So what is EOP?
EOP stands for: Educational Opportunity Program. EOP is designed for students with exceptional academic ability and promise despite low-income and educational disadvantages. EOP students have the potential and demonstrated motivation to perform well at a CSU or UC, but they have not been able to realize their potential because of their economic or educational background. EOP gives admission and academic assistance to EOP undergraduate students. In many cases the program offers financial help to eligible students.
Important Websites:

Today is December 1. This means that there are 24 more days till Christmas and for many high school seniors a couple more months of anticipation as they wait to find out if they have been accepted into their dream school. Yesterday, November 30, was the last day to submit in all UC and CSU applications, but as we all know there is always some that wait till the last minute to submit their applications. With that said, best of luck to all the seniors and hope you all get accepted to wherever you wanted to go. The hardest part is now behind us and it is time to focus on our school work, prepare to live on campus (for those who plan to live on campus), fill out the EOP application, and apply for more scholarships. The more money one can get the better. There are lots of scholarships out there, I recommend filling out as many as possible. Remember, keep on doing well in school since there have been cases where a student lets their grades slip and their acceptance to their UC or CSU of choice is revoked. Don't let this happen to you but also do not forget to enjoy your senior year.
Its senior year and your struck by the decision of where to go. There are many choices in California from CSUs to UCs but you are not limited by whats in California. If possible take a trip to potential colleges and tour their facilities. Talk to a teacher or advisor about setting up a trip to tour a potential college. Below is the list of CSUs and UCs.
